The elevation of 15,000 ft and as many as five snow slides very amazingly puts all your worries away and lets you enjoy the most enthralling trek journey. The journey presents you with all you can wish for, from captivating mountain views to the lush green meadows of the Dayara Bugyal, even forests, and rural villages, it is a complete trekking journey planned to deliver you an unmatched adrenaline rush.

The 8 days itinerary has it all and readily delivers you with an incomparable experience that you can cherish for long.


Day 1: Shimla to Diuede Base Camp (2,804 meters / 9,200 feet).

The highly popular region of Shimla is from where you will be starting with your journey. The artistic beauty of nature mingling with a touch of modernization and exciting locations, Shimla attracts a huge amount of tourists from all parts of the country. The well-connected railway network makes the journey to Shimla a fairly easy one.

As you reach Shimla, you will be starting your journey to the Diuede Base Camp. The road to Diuede runs along the beautiful blue waters of the Pabbar River. The trail takes you through small villages of Chirgaon and Tonglu to finally lead you to Diuede Base Camp. Stay overnight in Diuede.

Day 2: Diuede Base Camp (2,804 meters / 9,200 feet) to Dayara (3,376 meters / 11,075 feet).

Located at 11,000 feet the walk to Dayara will take something around 5 hours in total. Follow the trail out of the Diuede Base Camp and the day presents you with some really enthralling views all along the way. The walk begins through the tree line to lead you to a vast beautiful meadow. The enthralling view of the shady tree line adjacent to the lush meadows is a treat to the eyes.

The trail further takes you to a denser Pine and Oak forest making your walk even more thrilling. Follow the ascending trail out of the forest as the captivating views of the Dayara meadow unfold before you. Spend the night in the prettiest campsite of the country in Dayara.

Day 3: Dayara (3,376 meters / 11,075 feet) to Litham (3,577 meters / 11,737 feet).

The easy walk today takes something around 3 hours in total out of the Dayara to Litham. The first part of the walk is towards Gunas Pass through dense forests and lush green meadows. Further, into the trail, the Dhauladhar range comes into sight and looks really mesmerizing.

Follow the trail ahead to enter the Silver Birch forest and the first views of Litham are really exciting. Walk ahead to cross the Chandranahan Stream before finally reaching Litham. Camp the night in Litham.

Day 4: Litham (3,577 meters / 11,737 feet) to Chandranahan Lake (4,237 meters / 13,900 feet).

The walk to Chandranahan Lake and back to Litham takes around 7 hours in total. Nestling perfectly in the surrounding snow-capped vistas, the Chandranahan Lake offers some picturesque beauty of nature.

Enjoy your time in the really beautiful Chandranahan Lake before setting out on the returning walk to Litham. Stay the night in Litham.

Day 5: Chandranahan Lake (4,237 meters / 13,900 feet) to Dhunda (4,074 meters / 13,365 feet).

The first half of the 5 hours walk to Dhunda begins in a gradual ascending trail before becoming really steep. The mesmerizing setting of Dhunda offers compelling views of the Dhauladhar Range and also the Gunas Pass.

The journey starts on a well-marked path to Dhunda. Walk for about an hour to reach the ridge top of Dhunda and enjoy the bewildering views of Buran Ghati. The night stay is in the alpine zone of Dhunda.

Day 6: Dhunda (4,074 meters / 13,365 feet) to River Camp (3,597 meters / 11,800 feet) via Buran Ghati (4,572 meters / 15,000 feet).

It is a really long walk today of about 10 hours leading you to the primary destination Buran Ghati and then to the River Camp. The walk till Buran Ghati at 15,000 feet can be tricky and risky. As you reach Buran Ghati enjoy the snow lines and snow slides.

The descend down out of Buran Ghati is not a difficult one and will not consume much of the time. Follow the trail to cross the snow line and reach the Juniper shrubs. The exciting views of the vast velvety meadows with the compelling views of the mountains in the backdrop are the sight to savor. Cross a stream before reaching the River Camp to spend the night.

Day 7: River Camp (3,597 meters / 11,800 feet) to Shimla via Barua Village (2,042 meters / 6,700 feet).

The most exciting thing about today’s trek is the fast changing scenery. The broad trail passes through pine forests to reach a mixed forest. Follow the trail to reach a gushing stream that meets Barua Khud. The makeshift bridge helps you cross the stream and finally a few fruit orchards to reach Barua Village.

After spending some time in the Barua Village set out for the drive back to Shimla. The journey takes you through Karcham and from there to Sangla or Reckong Peyo to finally lead you to Shimla.

Enjoy the final day in Shimla, do souvenir shopping and stroll the streets and marketplaces. Cherish the beautiful memories and plan the next exciting trekking journey in the country.
