Trekking is meant for the people who crave for adventure and thrill in their life. The breed of people who fantasize about outstanding glimpses of Mother Nature and desires to sink in the marvelous creation of the natural wonders always choose to trek to the destination. My trekking days have been outlined with some stupendous trails each delivering me an incomparable joy and raising my spirits to attempt more. I always had this inclination towards destinations that promise to present me nature’s raw form and magnificence and this led me to some impeccable journeys including the extremely popular Manaslu Circuit Trek.
Manaslu is located in Nepal and is amongst the top trekking zone around the world. Though traveling here is a bit tough even then every year many visitors enjoy trekking in the Manaslu circuit. Leaving a trail on the great Himalayas is always a fun feeling which you can experience while trekking at Manaslu. It is a great tea-trek which is the best competitor to the famous Annapurna circuit nearby. The trek is perfectly crafted to reward the trekkers with astounding views of the 8th tallest peak of the world, Mt. Manaslu. The rich heritage and culture, the biological diversity, and the thunderous trail are ideal for every nature lover. The mountain trail is not a piece of cake of a walk but the stupendous views of the surroundings compensate hugely for the hectic hike. Along the trek, I hiked up to the Lyarka La Pass and was totally bewildered with the experience. The spectacular pass is loved by every adventurist and the Himalayan Vista I got to enjoy in here was surreal. It is the remoteness and serene ambiance of the place that appeals to a number of trekkers, and once I started on with the joyride, I knew many surprises awaited along the route.
As per the Wikipedia, the total trek of Manaslu is nearly 177kms and nearly takes 13 days to trek while enjoying. The trek starts at the height of 500m and the highest peak on the trek is nearly 5235m above the sea level. I enjoyed a lot when I was trekking on the same circuit. Here are some points of experience which I want to share with you for your advantage;
The journey begins from the capital, Kathmandu and each day ahead was all set to deliver me a sublime trekking experience. Now Kathmandu was the busiest city of Nepal, so before diving into the solitude of Manaslu, I decided to explore the capital as much as possible. I stayed back an extra day and enjoyed visiting the famous sights in here. The UNESCO World Heritage Sights allured me to a whole new extent while the vibrant and colorful setting of the city was highly commendable. From Kathmandu, I had to go to Sotikhola the next day to finally begin with my walking journey.
The commanding walk begins from Sotikhola and stretches for the next 13 days with each day intelligently crafted to reward the trekkers with an unmatched nature’s extravaganza. Over the next 4 days, I thoroughly enjoyed a thrilling walk first to Macha Khola from there to Jagat followed by Deng and finally to Namrung. The trail traversed through the interesting and captivating landscapes while I even got to satisfy my adrenaline rush with the thrills of walking the mountain paths. Along the route, I witnessed many small streams and also got to watch how the gushing Budhi Gandaki River flows through the mountains. The rich flora and the dense forests accompanied me for the most part of the walk and the villages I walked through was an enthralling experience. I remember crossing the Gurung Village,Philim where I got to have a deeper insight into the lifestyle and culture of the locals. Once I was in Namrung, I was all acclimatized to the rising altitude and geared up for the coming days.
The trek further in the trail was thunderous and I perched my tent in some alluring destinations like Samagaon, Samdo and then the very famous Dharmashala. I got to witness the rich Nepalese traditions when I visited the Pungeyon Gompa and cleansed my soul from within. From Dharamshala also known as the base camp of the Larkya La, I initiated with my walk to the top of the pass and it was mesmerizing. As I fought my way to the top, I was bewitched by the picturesque beauty of the surroundings. Himlung Himal, Kangguru, Cheo Himal, and the majestic Annapurna II were basking in their own glory rewarding me with a panoramic brilliance. From there I dropped down to Bimthang and enjoyed the most savoring sights of the Mt. Manaslu along with Lamjung Himal, Cheo Himal, and Himlung Himal.
Towards the completion of the journey, I walked through some other astonishing destinations like Tilije, Tal, and Syange and finally back to Kathmandu. The descending walk was equally enticing as I was overwhelmed to see many other amazing sights all along the way.
Living every day to a new excitement;
The trek included some evening walks along with some camping at the sheer stops which I definitely enjoyed. I wonder if there will be someone, who claims not to enjoy living in a jungle while on the trek. Sounds really enthralling, Right? The same excitements poke you with every other day when you wake up of what will come next on the trek. I discovered some beautiful panoramic pictures which I took during the trek.
Things which you should look at when you go for a trek; Documentation Required;
Being a foreign country, remember to pack your trekking bag light so that you can enjoy rather than become tired. Packing light is an art and if you love adventure traveling as much as I do, then you need to master this art of packing light. You may be asked to produce your passport, visa, and some photographs as per the requirement on the trek as you will pass by some major roads and even touch the borderlines of other countries where authentication of identity is required.
What can you enjoy on the trek?
Since it is in Kathmandu, you can enjoy shopping at Kathmandu, from where you can buy some gifts. A place called Thamel is all geared up with the trekking gear, in case you missed something while packing for the trek, you can buy from here. You can also buy gifts for your loved ones; probably some small souvenirs will be more than wonderful to take along with you. I bought a pair of additional shoes and even changed the lens of my camera so that I can click some beautiful pictures of the valley which touches Tibet on one hand and India on another.
Still waiting for things to happen, pick up your trekking back pack, pack some essentials and get going on the next adventurous trip to Manaslu circuit trek.
Trekking in Nepal is a fun filled adventure and satisfies the craving for thrill and excitements by taking the travelers to many sumptuous destinations all along the way. Give this place a chance and you will never be heartbroken.
