Also known as the ‘White Hostess’, the Kanamo Peak is located at an elevation of 19,600 ft and the walk is highly enchanting.

The trail to Kanamo Peak trek begins from Manali, and the walk to the summit is carried from Kibber. The top of the peak offers exhilarating panoramic views of Ladakh, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Spiti Valley and the journey as a whole is electrifying. Day 1: Arrival at Manali (2,050 meters / 6,725 feet).

Manali is a hugely popular tourist spot in India. The beautiful and perfect setting of Manali is the prime reason why a lot of travelers often come here to enjoy a quaint holiday. The roads are well connected from New Delhi and make it an easier spot to be in before starting with the onward journey. The destination after Manali is the base camp at Kaza and it is the closest township for you to spend the night. While you are in Manali, you can choose to explore the region as there are widespread tourists’ attractions. It is advised to have a good sleep in the night in.

Day 2: Manali (2,050 meters / 6,725 feet) to Kaza (3,800 meters / 12,467 feet).

While Manali was at 6,725 feetKaza takes you up to 12,818 feet. Today you will be enjoying a drive to Kaza and the journey of 200 KMs will take something around 10 hours in total. Start the day early out of Manali on the Manali-Leh Highway. The journey takes you through the Rohtang Pass and towards Batal. Forward from Batal, the road takes you through the admiring Spiti Valley where you will get to enjoy some really fascinating views. The yellow and green patches of the Peas and Barley fields unfold before you as you travel closer to Kaza. Spend the night in Kaza

Day 3: Kaza (3,800 meters / 12,467 feet) to Kibber (4,300 meters / 14,108 feet).

Located at 14,108 feetKibber is a small village sitting in the kernel of a narrow valley. The drive from Kaza to Kibber will not take more than an hour. The small village is considered one of the highest populated villages in the whole world. As you reach Kibber you can spend the rest of the day exploring the region. The Key Monastery is a must visit place around Kibber. The Key Monastery is located around 1.5 hours hike away from Kibber on top of a hill overlooking the Spiti River flowing below. You can also spend the time in Kibber indulging in interactive sessions with the locals and getting to know their way of spending the life. Overnight stay in Kibber.

Day 4: Kibber (4,300 meters / 14,108 feet) to Kanamo Base Camp (4,780 meters / 15,748 feet).

The Kanamo Base Camp is located at 15,748 feet above the sea and takes around 7 hours from Kibber. The walk from Kibber runs on an ascending trail. The walk starts on a steep ascending trail for the first 4 hours before easing up a bit. You will again climb on a gradual ascend all the way to Kanamo Base Camp. As you walk on the trail, you will get to enjoy the rich flora of the region. The trail also passes through a couple of lakes and in the last phase of the journey the picturesque views of the surrounding region will excite you even more. Day 5: Acclimatization Day.

The high altitude is really exciting and puts you in an incredible mood, but the high altitude often can make you sick so a stop for acclimatization and rest is very important. As the region around the Kanamo Base Camp is very interesting, the acclimatization day here is ideal. Spend the day exploring the region and get a good rest as the walk next day is highly strenuous

Day 6: Kanamo Base Camp (4,780 meters / 15,748 feet) to Kanamo Peak (5,960 meters / 15,748 feet) and back.

The most thrilling day of the whole journey constitutes the longest walk as well. The 13 hours trek to Kanamo Peak and back takes a huge toll on your legs and it is very important that you start the day as early as possible. Crossing the first shoulder of the mountain, you will get to amaze at the astounding sight of the distant peaks, follow the trail to cross the second shoulder and walk on the last part of the journey. It is a very difficult climb from here and the high chances of slipping make it a bit risky as well. As you reach the top of the peak, you will be presented with bewildering views of the Greater Himalayas vista. The panoramic views of the surroundings are breathtaking. The sights of the Parang La Pass and Pin Parvati Pass are equally enthralling. The snow-capped Shila Peak visible from here is actually considered as the twin sister of the Kanamo Peak. After enjoying the grandeur of the Kanamo Peak, start descending down back to the base camp to spend the night

Day 7: Kanamo Base Camp (4,780 meters / 15,748 feet) to Kaza (3,800 meters / 12,467 feet).

The prime object of the journey, witnessing the magnificence of the Kanamo Peak has been successfully covered, so starting today you will retracing your steps back towards the completion. As the journey back will be on a descending trail, the intermediate stop at Kibber Village will be skipped. The walk back to Kibber will be along the artistic beauty of the Spiti Valley. The enticing views of the looming mountains in the backdrop make the walk even more captivating. As you reach Kibber, the drive to Kaza Village will be a really exciting one. The road running along the Spiti River and rugged mountains take you through the villages like Hikkim and Rangrik. The world’s highest post office falls in the way. As you reach Kaza, prepare to spend the night here.

Day 8: Kaza to Manali.

The final day of the journey takes you back to Manali. The familiar route fills your heart with nostalgia, and the memories of the outstanding trek keep your spirits high. As you reach Manali, you can spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful streets and marketplaces of the region. Manali is a great stop for souvenir shopping as well. Enjoy the final stay at Manali.

Day 9: Departure.

This is the last day of the expedition. You can check out by 12 pm and depart towards your hometown until we meet in our next expedition.
