Primarily the journey begins at the famed Lamayuru Monastery in the Kongskila. The trail traverses through some really interesting locations and leads you to the very beautiful Hemis National Park.

The Hemis National Park is a very popular trekking destination in the Leh and is also the home to a diverse species of animals. Traversing through the wild flora and fauna of the region, you will get to the Chilling. A thrilling ride on a cable trolley to cross the river at Chilling is another fancied spot in the journey. The trail forward takes you to incredibly beautiful Markha Valley. The Markha Valley is known as one of the most beautiful valleys of the Leh Region, and the journey passing through the sparse Ladakhi Settlements gives you an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the local people.

Day 1: Leh to Lamayuru, (125 Km /6-7 Hrs

The Lamayuru Monastery is a profound monastery in the Leh Region. The Lamayuru Monastery marks the beginning of the very exciting journey ahead. While Leh is a trekker’s paradise in itself, the other regions justify well to the stature given to Leh. The Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is where you will be heading to from Delhi. As you reach Leh beforehand, you will have ample options to explore the picturesque beauty of nature. The journey to Lamayuru Monastery from Leh is an on a drive for about 7 hours covering a distance of 125km. While the journey lets you witness the vivid landscapes of this cold desert, the intermediate stops en route to Lamayuru Monastery are equally compelling. The Alchi Monastery and the Liker Monastery are the two important destinations en route to Lamayuru. As you reach Lamayuru, provide your tired soul a good rest in the guesthouse of the monastery.

Day 2: Lamayuru to Wanla (3250m), 2-3 Hrs

The next destination is the journey is Wanla at an elevation of 3,250 meters. from the Lamayuru Monastery, a relaxing walk on the beautiful and enjoyable terrain for about 3 hours leads you to Wanla. The walk begins along the stream towards the eastern direction for about 20 min, before crossing it near a Chorten. The trail from here along with another stream towards the north and then east leads you to the Prikitin La at 3,700 meters. Keep moving the designated trail to get down to the river at the Shilakung Valley. The roads divide from here, while the left one takes you to the very beautiful Zanskar Valley, the right one through Chortens and Mani Walls take you to your destination for the night Wanla. A final river crossing finally leads you to the campsite at Wanla. Enjoy the night in here.

Day 3: Wanla to Hinju, 5-6 Hrs

A long trek journey awaits you today, as you will have to walk around 6 hours to reach the Hinju Village. This is the first day where you will be involved in a strenuous and long walk, so approach the journey with caution. Start the day off early after breakfast with the beautiful Hinju Village in mind. The trail passes through the striking brilliance of nature offering some really sumptuous views of the distant mountains and narrow gorges. Enjoy the walk to reach a row of prayer flags, marking your entry into the Hinju Village. Stay the night in Hinju Village.

Day 4: Hinju to Sumda Chenmo, 5-6 Hrs

A really long and exciting day awaits you as today you will be walking up to the Sumda Chenmo. Yet another long 6 hours walk today is both thrilling and strenuous at the same time. The road to Sumda Chenmo passes through a high pass 4,900 meters called the Konski La. The views of the return route from Prikti La, from the top of the Konski La, is a really cherishing sight. Follow the trail ahead to reach the valley across the Konski La, inhabited by the shepherds from the Hinju Village. Enjoy the night at the campsite

Day 5: Sumda Chenmo to Dundunchan La Base, 5-6 Hrs

The incredible walk today will lead you to the base of the Dundunchan La where you will be staying the night. A shorter journey today for about 4 hours runs on a fairly easy terrain to lead you to the destination. Though the base of the Dundunchan La Pass is located at quite an elevation, the vivid landscapes and the panoramic brilliance of nature will push you more towards the destination. The Sumda Chu falls en route to the Dundunchan La Base. The night will be spent in the beautiful campsite of the pass.

Day 6: Dundunchan La base to Chilling, 3-4 Hrs

The really beautiful and adventurous destination, Chilling awaits you further in the journey. Wake up to the beautiful views from the base of the Dundunchan La and start the journey towards the top of the pass. The Dundunchan La sits at an astounding elevation of 4,700 meters and offers a really magnificent view of the surroundings. Enjoy the marvelous views before resuming on the journey forward to Chilling. An enjoyable walk of around 4 hours today finally leads you to the Chilling Village. The journey towards the other side of the Zanskar River is the most exciting part of today’s walk. A cable trolley to pass over the Zanskar River flowing towards Nimo Village injects the right amount of adrenaline rush inside you. Take this fascinating ride to finally arrive at Chilling Village where you will be spending the night

Day 7: Chilling to Sku (3500 m), 5 Hrs

A thrilling walk of around 5 hours after crossing the Zanskar River yet again leads you to the destination for the night, Sku. Stay the night in Sku.

Day 8: Skiu to Markha (3850 m), 7 Hrs

A very beautiful and probably the most pretty valley of the Ladakh Region, Markha Valley is your today’s destination. The walk begins out of Sku and the path subsequently joins the Markha River. The Markha River will give you company for the coming days as well. An easy and enjoyable trek today passing through the Markha River which you will have to cross a number of times leads you to the campsite of Markha Valley. As you reach the artistic beauty of the Markha Valley you can choose to the remaining time exploring the region. A visit to the famous monastery in the region or a walk to the fort can be quite interesting. You can also choose to spend the day in leisure gauging at the raw magnificence of nature. Stay the night here.

Day 9 – Markha to Hankar (4000 m), 4 Hrs

Another 4 hours walk up to an elevation of 4000 m leads you to the Hankar. The walk today is really enticing and captivating as you will get a chance to explore the various monasteries falling en route to Hankar. Walking through the intermediate stops at the various monastery you will reach the very last monastery in the trail called at the Umlung Monastery. Enjoy the visit to this monastery before resuming on the walk in the narrowing valley to reach the campsite. The campsite is located in the lap of the Kang Yatse Mountain (6,400 meters). enjoy a thrilling night here.

Day 10 – Hankar to Nimaling (4650 m), 4 Hrs

Sitting at an enchanting elevation of 4,650 meters, this beautiful highland of Ladakh is a very interesting place to be in. An enjoyable 4 hours of walking proceeding in the direction of Zalung Karpo and Rhupsu. Follow the trail ahead to the Thagshungtse Pasture and involve in a gradual ascent that leads to the wonderful highland of Nimaling. Prepare to spend the night here.

Day 11: Nimaling to Shang Sumdo, 6-7 Hrs

A long and strenuous walk today for about 7 hours takes you to some of the really thrilling spots in Ladakh. The first destination in the list passing through some narrow gorges leads you to Kongamru La at 5,100 meters. Enjoy the bewildering views from the top of the pass. Witness the grandeur of the Ladakhi Ranges and savor the sight of the beautiful villages lined along the northern side of the Indus River. The final crossing over the Kongamru La leads you to the campsite for the night, Shang Sumdo. Enjoy a fascinating night in here.

Day 12: Shang Sumdo to Hemis to Leh, 6 Hrs.

The final day of the journey is specifically designed to probably deliver you the best of the whole trekking experience. An enticing walk along the stream leads you to the very old and beautiful Hemis Monastery. Explore the monastery and indulge in the rich culture and traditions of Ladakh before resuming on the final bit of the journey that takes you to Leh. From Hemis Monastery it will be an enjoyable drive to Leh. The road takes you through some of the oldest monasteries in the region. The likes of the Thiskey Monastery, Shey Palace, Stok Palace will give you an enchanting experience that you are going to cherish for a lifetime. As you reach Leh stay the night here as the next day you will be taking a flight back to Delhi

This is the last day of the expedition. You can check out by 12 pm and depart towards your hometown until we meet on our next expedition.
