The route adopted is the one that starts from Lamayuru and takes you through Wanla, Hinju, Sumda Chenmo, Dundunchan La and finally leading to Chilling.
The duration of the trip is 6 days and the trek is a moderate trek with remote villages and High Mountain passes. The highest point that you’ll encounter on your trip would be at an altitude of 4,900 meters known as Konski La. The highlights of the trek include monasteries, monks, shepherds and the hospitable people of the abode. The best time to go for trekking in this trek is from mid of June to September.

Itinerary

Day 1: Leh to Lamayuru- 8 hrs

The first day of your thrilling trip begins by taking a car from Leh to Lamayuru. The pleasant path has oodles of places that can be visited. You can stop by Liker or visit the popular Alchi Monastery. After eight hours of tedious drive, you can either camp in Lamayuru or stay in the guest house overnight.

Day 2: Lamayuru to Wanla- 2 to 3 Hrs

From Lamayuru, you’ll have to walk down towards the east and then after half an hour, you’ll have to cross a stream near Chorten. Then you’ll have to walk along another stream towards its south and then to the east until you reach the Prikiting La which is at an elevation of 3,700m. Then keep on following the same path downwards, which will lead you to Shikkakung valley.

The trail towards the right also leads to Zanskar but you’ll have to go through Snigutse La. After that, you’ll have to take the trail with chorten and Mani wall. Next, on the trail, you’ll have to cross a river and pass through houses near the second bridge. This will finally lead you to tented restaurants and camping site. You can stay there overnight and relax.

Day 3: Wanla to Hinju 5-6 hours

Wanla is famous for its mouth-watering breakfast dishes. You can enjoy your breakfast in the place and then leave for Hinju. The trails to Hinju are outlined by picturesque views of magnificent mountain ranges and narrow gorges. The path offers you with some stimulating challenges and will make you have a rendezvous with nature. Finally forging on the path you’ll reach your destination Hinju within 6 hours. The village has player flags at its very beginning. You can camp in the village or stay in a hotel overnight.

Day 4: Hinju to Sumda Chenmo- 5 to 6 hours

The trek from Hinju to Sumda chenmo is taken via Konski La, which is the highest point of the trek with an altitude of 4,900 meters. Once you reach the point, you can stop by for some time and capture the panoramic views of nearby mountains, valleys, and gorges. You can also have a view of the back route. The valley across Kanski La has numerous huts of the shepherds that are from Hinju. The shepherds make butter and cheese in the region. You can experience the life of these people here, and stay overnight in the camp.

Day 5: Sumda Chenmo to Dundunchan La Base- 5 to 6 Hrs

You can have a good walk from Sumda Chenmo to the Dundunchan La Base. It will take you around 5 to 6 hours to reach your destinations. Along the trails, you can behold out-of-the-world views and can even click a few photographs to cherish. Finally, when you’ll reach the Dundunchan Base, you can either stay in Guest House or go for camping.

Day 6: Dundunchan La base to Chilling- 5 to 6 Hrs

The Dundunchan La base is at an amazing altitude of 4,700 m, and you can witness some amazing views from the point. Finally, you’ll have to follow the trail from Dundunchan to Chilling which will lead you to a village where pristine Zanskar river flows towards Nimo village.
Once you arrive at Chilling, you can take a car to Ladakh. Stay Overnight in Guest House in Ladakh and leave for your home the next day.

The trek is one of the most beautiful treks and is made especially for nature-lovers.
