Damodar Kund or Damodar Kunda is a holy lake situated in the High Himalaya region of Nepal, this lake comes under Nepal’s Upper mustang restricted zone. Non-Nepali travelers required special permits to visit this place.  Damodar Kund Lake is situated in a very remote location at an altitude of 5400 meters, someone needs to walk for 4 to 5 days minimum to reach this holy place.

The lake is very auspicious for Hindus across the world, there’s a believe if you take bath in this holy lake then all your sin becomes clean. As mentioned in Barah Puran, Kuber’s two sons took a dip in this holy lake and freed from all their sins, lord Krishna advised them to purify their souls by taking bath at this lake. Damodar Kund is the source of holy Kaligandaki River and Shaligram and considered the head of sleeping Vishnu.

You can reach this lake only on foot or by helicopter, traveling to the lake by helicopter is very expensive as you need to hire a complete helicopter. You can reach the lake by foot which will be economical and takes 6 to 7 day from Jomsom to complete. You must need the Upper Mustang restricted zone permit before entering this zone, it costs USD.500 per person. You must require a certified guide and a complete support team for your journey to the Lake.

Views and experiences will be out of the world during this journey. You can see Tibetan Plateau, Damodar Himal, Annapurna Zone, Dhaulagiri Zone, Nilgiri, Upper Mustang kingdom and many more during this tour. Please remember, travel to Damodar Kund required good health as you are crossing mountain passes above 5000 meters.
