The Dudh Kunda Trek is blessed with outstanding mountain scenery, pristine lakes, waterfalls, rich flora, and fauna including the beautiful Rhododendrons and a great number of migratory birds. Phaplu is the first destination on the journey. Pike Hiking is one of the adventurous things to try in this journey. Witness the beautiful locations which include Kathmandu – Phaplu – Takshindu – Beni – Dudhkunda – Ringmo – Phaplu and finally back in Kathmandu.

The Dudh Kunda Trek in Nepal takes you through the less traveled paths, presents with compelling views of the mighty Everest, Pikey, Numbur, and many other ranges. The trek also gives you an insight into the culture & heritage of the area, the lifestyle of the locals, and the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Dudh Kunda is also known as the ‘Lake of Milk’ and the 10 days itinerary of the trek will present you with astounding mountain views, cascading waterfalls, serene lakes, migratory birds, and much more. The trail passes through the villages of rich religious values, the Taksindu and Beni. The region is mainly populated with Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, and Magar ethnics. Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu” icon=”icon: check-circle

Like every other trekking journey in heart of Nepal, this trek also marks it’s beginning with your arrival in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Rich in culture and heritage, Kathmandu has a lot to explore. From the beautiful monasteries spread all around the city to the incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sights, Kathmandu has all and is set amazingly amidst the vivid landscapes of tall distant mountains.
Spend the day exploring the culture and traditions of the country, indulge in interactions with the locals and try the finest and most authentic Nepalese cuisine here in Kathmandu. Stay the night in Kathmandu

Day 2: Kathmandu to Salleri (2,309 metres/7,578 feet) via Phaplu (2,469 meters/8,100 feet).

Today, you will be starting your journey towards the Salleri village. To reach Salleri from Kathmandu you will have to follow the trail through Phaplu. The path to Phaplu will have to be covered by the drive. Enjoy the mesmerizing views and terraced lands by the road through the local villages to Phaplu. Walk your way from Phaplu through the amazing trail for one hour to reach Salleri. The Chewang monastery is a good place to visit in the Salleri. You can also enjoy a stroll around the local market of the village. Enjoy a quaint night in Salleri.

Day 3: Salleri (2,309 metres/7,578 feet) to Takshindu (3,060 meters/10,039 feet).

The trekking journey to Takshindu from Salleri will take you through the Ringmo village. The walk starts on a descending trail from Salleri and leads you to the Ringmo village. From the Ringmo village, you will have to climb up the ridge and follow the journey forward. The trail from Ringmo passes through beautiful and sparsely populated Sherpa settlements walk past the settlements and through the forest to finally reach Takshindu.

The village of Takshindu holds great cultural values and the locals here will welcome you with open hearts. The villagers are well known for their incredible evening cultural shows they perform in order to show their love towards their visitors. Indulge in the rich culture of the village and spend the night in Takshindu.

Day 4: Takshindu (3,060 meters/10,039 feet) to Beni (3,972 meters/13,031 feet).

Start off with the journey early from Takshindu to reach Beni, located at an elevation of 3972m. The trail will take you through the Sahasra. Walk on the incredible trail and admire the enthralling views you will be presented within the background. The path lets you enjoy astounding views of the Karyolung mountain, Numbur Mountain, Khatang mountain, and some other peaks as well. Enjoy your serene walk by the beautiful scenes through the yak farms and monastery to finally reach the Beni village. Spend the night in Beni.

Day 5: Beni (3,972 meters/13,031 feet) to Dudhkunda (4,560 meters/14,960 feet).

The trail today will lead you the primary destination you have set out for. Dudh Kunda or the ‘Lake of Milk’ is also known as the ‘Shorong Yul Lha’ by the locals. The holy lake of Dudh Kunda is mostly famous for the huge fair it witnesses during the Janai Purnima each year. A lot of pilgrims and devotees visit this religious lake each year, and it is believed that a shower in this lake cleanses all your sins from within. The trail to Dudh Kunda is via the glacier and the lake is beautifully located below the Numbur Mountain range in the mountains of Southern Solokhumbhu. Enjoy the enthralling views of the Numbur Mountain and the exotic migratory birds from the lake. Spend the night in Dudh Kunda.


Day 6: Dudhkunda (4,560 meters/14,960 feet) to Ringmo (2,700 meter/8,858 feet).

The journey to your primary destination is done and it is time for you to retrace your steps back to reach the finish line. The agriculturally rich Sherpa village of Ringmo is popular among the mass owing to the sweet apples and the yak cheese. Enjoy the pleasant walk of 5 hours from Dudh Kunda to finally reach Ringmo, stay the night in Ringmo.

Day 7: Ringmo (2,700 meter/8,858 feet) to Phaplu (2,469 meters/8,100 feet).

Today you will be heading back towards the village of Phaplu. To reach Phaplu you will have to cross the famous Takshindu village, where you have spent the night already. Follow the trail along the forests to reach Takshindu and enjoy the cultural shows yet again in this village. From Takshindu walk your way through the pasture lands of the Himalayan vegetation to finally reach Phaplu. Stay the night in Phaplu.

Day 8: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu.

The amazing circuit journey to the culturally rich Dudhkunda lake comes to an end as you finally follow the road back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the scenic beauties along the way. You will also be presented with bewildering views of the lofty Everest, Cho Oyu, and Lamtang. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, spend the rest of the day exploring the capital. Kathmandu is the ideal place for doing some souvenir shopping for your loved ones back home. Enjoy some culinary dishes from the region and learn about the local lifestyle as you stay the night for the final time in Kathmandu.

Day 9: Final Departure.

Today you will be traveling back to your hometown to resume your daily life. Enjoy the flight back home from Kathmandu.
