It is certainly one of the most astonishing treks in the world that takes the trekkers up close to the world’s third largest peak – Kanchenjunga. The Kanchenjunga base camp is the highest location of the journey and the sights of the majestic peak from here are unparallel. Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

The Kanchenjunga trek is the most amazing trek of Nepal, and it starts with arrival at the capital of the country, Kathmandu is a unique combination of culture and heritage. Spend your day preparing for the trek and visiting the UNESCO world heritage sights, do not forget to taste the authentic Nepalese cuisines and blend in the rich culture of the country. Stay the night in Kathmandu

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Suketar(2,420 meters/7,938 feet), trek to Lalikharka (2,265 meters/7,431feet).

The second day marks the beginning of the most amazing trekking journey of your life. After reaching Suketar, located in the east of Nepal you begin your trekking through the lush green forests until you reach LaliKharka. Stay the night in Lalikharka

Day 3: Lalikharka (2,265 meters/7,431feet) to Khesewa (2,120 meters/6,955 feet).

Start the day early after breakfast and follow an easy trail till you reach Phundrawa. The journey, starting from Phundrawa, comprises of difficult climbs and ascends until you reach Phumpe Danda. The trail follows through beautiful forests and rural villages. From here, you will be taking one steeper climb to reach Khesewa. Spend the night in Khesewa.

Day 4: Khesewa (2,120 meters/6,955 feet) to Mamankhe (1,785 meters/5,856 feet).

Today’s journey will start early and Kabeli Khola is the first stop you will be making in today’s trail. Cross a small stream after crossing one more forest and you will reach the Mamankhe village. The beautiful sights of the majestic Himalayas will keep you company throughout and you will also get to cross a number of small and beautiful villages. Sleep the night in Mamankhe.

Day 5: Mamankhe (1,785 meters/5,856 feet) to Yamphudin (2,080 meters/6,824 feet).

The walk today will be mostly along the Kabeli Khola River, and the trail will be an easy one. The landscapes will be amazing as you keep going forward, admire the beautiful waterfall you will cross and also take time appreciating the amazing ridge behind the stream. Cross a suspension bridge, followed by small settlements to reach the Yamphudin Village. Stay the night in Yamphudin.

Day 6: Yamphudin (2,080 meters/6,824 feet) to Tortong (2,995 meters/9,826 feet).

Terraced farmlands, green meadows and the common path of the villagers is the trail that you will be following today to reach Tortong. The Himalayas will be constantly by your side. After crossing the pass at Lassiya Bhanjiyang along the Amji Khola, you will reach the Tortong village where you will stay the night.

Day 7: Tortong (2,995 meters/9,826 feet) to Cheram (3,870m/12,696ft).

Have an early breakfast and start an early climb leading up to Cheram. The trail is actually at the beautiful Lalung Valley and the Tuplung peak will be your companion for the most part of the trek. Enjoy the picturesque beauty of the Yalung Glacier and cross the Rhododendron forest before reaching Cheram. Stay the night in Cheram.

Day 8: Rest and Acclimatization.

After the continuous journey of 8 days, acclimatizing to the high altitude is very important to take the day off in Cheram. Spend the day in activities, explore the beautiful places around Yalung Glacier or participate in small hikes around the region. The viewpoint for Kabaru and Rathong peaks is a great place to enjoy some astounding views, stay the night in Cheram.

Day 9: Cheram (3,870m/12,696ft) to Ramchaur (4,580m/15,026ft).

The snout of the Yalum Glacier will be our first destination of the day. Ascend up and enjoy the beautiful walk on the valley trail, enjoying and admiring amazing views of the several Himalayan Peaks that will be visible to you. Before finally reaching Ramchaur, you will cross a small settlement of Lapsang. Experience an amazing stay at night in Ramchaur.

Day 10: Ramchaur (Ramche) to Yalung Base Camp (4500m), back to Cheram (3,870m/12,696ft).

The journey starts from Ramchaur today walk further up the valley to be welcomed by the southern face of Kanchenjunga, follow the trail forward to get an extraordinary glimpse of the Jannu Himal. After Jannu Himal, move up to the Oktang Monastery, climb further up to reach Yalunga Base Camp. The Basecamp offers some mesmerizing views of the Kumkarna, Nyukla Lachun, and several other Himalayan Peaks. Climb down to finally reach Cheram, spend the night back in Cheram.

Day 11: Cheram(3,870m/12,696ft) to Sele La (4290m/ 14,074ft)

Start an early trek today after breakfast, as you will follow four passes on your way including the Sinelpache and Bhanjyang pass. Further from here you will get to the Mirgin La Pass, continue the journey further to reach Sinion La pass. Continue the trail up to reach Sele La Pass, full of prayer flags. Cross the Sele La Pass, stay the night here.

Day 12:Sele La (4290m/ 14,074ft) to Ghunsa (3,595/11,794).

The trail today will be on the northern side and the Tangbgharma Danda in close vicinity. You will witness a Chorten with prayer flags, which is the offset of a steep trail. The journey from here will be through Rhododendron and pine forests to reach Ghunsa. The village is beautiful; the religious beliefs of the people are well reflected on the Buddhist Prayer Flags in the region. Stay the night in Ghunsa.

Day 13: Ghunsa (3,595/11,794) to Kambachen (4,050m/13,287ft).

The trail that follows today will be along beautiful mountain scenery, north of the Ghunsa village. The landscapes include beautiful green meadows filled with wildflowers, rhododendron and Pine forests. Cross the bridge over Rampuk Kharka, move further to a waterfall and cautiously cross a landslide. From here you will enjoy an incredible view of the Mt. Jannu, move further with caution to finally reach the Kambachen, stay the night in Kambachen.

Day 14: Kambachen (4,050m/13,287ft) to Lhonak (4,780m/15,682ft).

The today will comprise a challenging trek, so you need to start the day early. Trek through the rocky paths and huge boulders on your way along the hillside to finally reach a waterfall. Cross a bridge to reach the Ramtang Monastery. Follow the trail further at a steady pace, descend down to the river and finally reach Lhonak where you will spend the night.

Day 15: Lhonak (4,780m/15,682ft) to Kanchenjunga Basecamp, night at Pangpema (5,143/16,873ft)

Today’s journey will mark the best trek of the whole journey, to the Kanchenjunga Basecamp from Lhotang. The trail will follow alongside the grand Kanchenjunga Glacier. You will pass Pangpema and the descent will follow to Kanchenjunga Basecamp. Kanchenjunga will present you with astounding and incredible views of the Mt. Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal and several other peaks. Enjoy the day at the base camp admiring the extraordinary view and click some beautiful pictures to keep your memory alive forever. Stay the night back in Pangpema.

Day 16: Pangpema (5,143/16,873ft) to Lhonak (4,780m/15,682ft).

The journey today will be back to Lhonak, starting today will retrace our steps back towards the successful completion of the journey. Follow the trail back to Lhonak, stay the night in Lhonak.

Day 17: Lhonak (4,780m/15,682ft) to Ghunsa (3475m/11,400ft).

The 17th day of the journey marks the climax of the circuit trek, after experiencing amazing views and picturesque beauty at the Kanchenjunga Base Camp, you will start moving towards the beautiful village of Ghunsa. The trail down will be on the same route via Kambache and equally exciting one. The beautiful landscapes alongside will keep the positivity in you alive, follow the steps back to Ghunsa where you will stay the night.

Day 18: Ghunsa (3475m/11,400ft) to Amjilosa (2,308m/7,572ft).

The trail today to Amjilosa will certainly inject a sense of serenity and positivity in you. The beauty of the several Manes and Monastery that you will pass along the way will leave you with an amazing feeling. The Juniper forests along the way will lead you to Phale. Follow the steady descent to Gyabla, and lose yourself in the amazing waterfall nearby. Cross the bridge over Sumbung Khola to reach Amjilosa. Stay the night in Amjilosa.

Day 19: Amjilosa (2,308m/7,572ft) to Chirwa (1,270m/4,166ft)

Walk a while from Amjilosa, experience a beautiful waterfall nearby. Continue the trek to cross the small settlement of Solima and further cross the suspension bridge over Ghunsa Khola. Follow the trail to reach Sukathum, as the trail passes a number of villages. Sukathum is beside Thunsa Khola and before reaching Chirwa you will cross Tamor Nadi. Stay the night in Chirwa.

Day 20: Chirwa (1,270m/4,166ft) to Phurumbu (1,549/5,082ft).

As the journey is towards the completion, the settlement starts getting thicker and more compact. The population increases noticeably and the lush vegetation and terraced farmlands show how the people of the region spend their days. You will have to cross several villages before reaching Sinwa and on the following journey, you will be crossing a suspension bridge over the Sisne Khola. The trek from here is called the Pathibhara Trek and is pretty amazing and beautiful. The following journey from here you will cross another village and a suspension bridge as well. Cross another suspension bridge over the Yaphre Khola to finally reach Phurumbu where you will be spending the night.

Day 21: Phurumbu (1,549/5,082ft) to Suketar

Once you reach Suketar, the journey marks the successful ending of the trekking journey. Follow the Pathibhara Trek and you will reach the Suketar. As you reach Suketar, you will be in serious need of a break as after this long trek you need one day to have a good rest. The journey was full of adventure and thrill and took up much of your energy so enjoy the rest of the day exploring the village of Suketar. Stay the night in Suketar.

Day 22: Drive Back to Kathmandu from Suketar.

So the amazing trekking journey comes to end as you drive back to Kathmandu. The capital has lots more in store for you as even after you have spent a day before in the capital, this time also will not be less amazing. Spend your day covering what you have missed on the first day, visit the UNESCO World Heritage sights like the Hindu Temple, the Monkey Temple, the Buddhist Shrine and some other landmarks as well. Indulge in some authentic Nepalese cuisines and spend the day shopping souvenirs and things for your loved ones. Spend the final day exploring the capital and a peaceful night here.

Day 23: Final Departure

The Kanchenjunga base camp circuit trek has finally come to an end. You will be filled with remorse that the journey has completed. The amazing views of the five peaks will be missed the most along with the incredible landscapes and several other Himalayan peaks.
